Charon Ellis — Founding Executive Director (In Memoriam)
Charon Ellis was the guiding force behind North Capitol Collaborative, Inc. (NCCI) whose vision, compassion, and deep commitment to families and communities shaped our organization for over two decades. Under her leadership, NCCI strengthened families, supported children, and built thriving communities throughout the District of Columbia. She dedicated her career to service, partnership, and empowerment, and her legacy endures in the lives transformed through NCCI’s work and the leaders she trained, including her daughter Aleesha Cade and colleague Erica Coston. Charon’s light, love, and unwavering dedication continue to inspire our mission and guide our work each day.

Aleesha Cade — Deputy Executive Director
Aleesha Cade serves as Deputy Executive Director of North Capitol Collaborative, bringing forward Charon Ellis’ legacy of leadership, integrity, and community-centered service. Aleesha has been integral to NCCI’s strategic growth, program development, and commitment to families across DC. With experience in operations, finance, and partnership development, she co-leads the organization with vision and resilience as it advances support for children, families, and community outcomes.
Erica Coston —Executive Director
Erica Coston serves as Executive Director, working collaboratively with the Deputy Executive Director to manage organizational leadership, program strategy, and day-to-day operations. Erica’s leadership extends across community development, program development, outreach, and partnership engagement, ensuring that NCCI’s services are responsive, equitable, and impactful. She co-leads the organization with vision and resilience as it advances support for children, families, and community outcomes.

A Message from the Executive Director
Close your eyes and imagine how at the end of a long day, you don’t have a home to go to, let alone, a soft bed for you or your kids to lay down. Imagine being a child and not having food to eat for nourishment to grow. There are many basic necessities that we take for granted, that NCCI families are not financially fortunate to experience daily. North Capitol Collaborative, Inc. (NCCI) since it’s; inception goal is dedication, commitment, and service to vulnerable residents of the District of Columbia by empowering, and uplifting communities, families, and individuals utilizing a strengths-based approach that promotes hope for a better tomorrow. NCCI accomplishes our commitment through a number of corporate, non-profit, individual, federal and District of Columbia government partnerships. These invaluable partnerships enable NCCI the ability to provide wrap-around services and resources to D.C. residents to assist them in stabilizing, thriving, and building a healthy family life and community.
The harsh reality is that despite numerous safety net provisions, many families continue to experience food poverty and bouts of homelessness due to financial difficulties and other socio-economic challenges. Your donation will not only provide needed financial support, but it also assists NCCI sustainability of our programmatic operations to continue to provide valuable resources to D.C.’s vulnerable.
