Crafting a Path of her Own

How a client utilized employment supports to find her own path.

An effective Employment Program does more than connect clients to job openings. It helps individuals identify opportunities that support their goals, build on their strengths, and create a path toward meaningful employment and long-term growth.

That philosophy is at the center of North Capitol Collaborative, Inc.’s Employment Program. Through individualized support, encouragement, and access to career-building opportunities, NCCI works with clients as they define success for themselves and take the next step toward it.

For Ms. C, that support helped open the door to new employment and educational opportunities. As a graduate of the Peer Case Management Institute’s second cohort, Ms. C continued to demonstrate the focus, commitment, and determination needed to move forward in her career journey.

Consistency: The Key to Success

When asked what contributed most to Ms. C’s success, NCCI’s Employment team pointed to her “consistency and determination.” Throughout her journey, Ms. C remained engaged, followed through on opportunities, and continued working toward her goals even when the path required patience and persistence.
 
Today, Ms. C serves as a Housing Specialist at Catholic Charities DC, where she is making a meaningful impact in her community. In this role, she is able to use her lived experience, training, and commitment to service to support others as they work toward stability and self-sufficiency.
 
Ms. C has also expressed gratitude for the care and support she received throughout her journey with NCCI. Even as she advances in her career, she continues to stay connected to NCCI’s employment network, a reminder that strong workforce support does not end at placement. It continues through encouragement, connection, and community.
 
The team at NCCI wishes Ms. C all the best in her new role. We are excited to see where her journey takes her next, and we know she will continue to be the agent of change she set out to be.
