Community Advisory Council
Purpose: The purpose of the Community Advisory Council is to advise the Family Success Center in its identified area; empower the community and families, and focus on upstream prevention; keep a pulse on the needs of the community, as well as promote and support needed programming; and help make decisions that are in the best interest of the community. Please note that it is a volunteer position.
Structure: The CAC will meet for two hours, at least once a month virtually on the 2nd Monday of each month from 4pm- 5:30pm. During the meetings, the CAC will give feedback, react to ideas from staff, and make suggestions that could improve Deanwood Family Success Center. Possible CAC topics include, resource gaps, nutritional support, support groups, youth services, cross-generational programs women’s services, senior’s services, returning citizen’s re-entry services. Once members are chosen, the CAC will choose additional topics to discuss. CAC members are also expected to participate in regularly scheduled capacity building trainings which are
We hope to create a CAC that is meaningful, rewarding, and offer community members a way to help NCCI help shape what Deanwood Family Success Center will be in the present and future.
Requirements to be a CAC Member:
Complete CAC Community Toolbox Training
Attend at least 10 of the 12 CAC meetings per year
Act as an Ambassador for the FSC;
Adhere to and follow the mission
Read information sent to the CAC to prepare for meetings
Provide thoughtful feedback at meetings
Promote Deanwood Family Success Center in the community
Make suggestions about what you think the community need
Create subcommittees for special events and projects as identified by the committee;
Help identify resources, conduct surveys and outreach
